6 Must Visit Afternoon Tea Places in London

1. Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at Sanderson Hotel

If you're looking for a hint of the whimsical, look no further than the Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea at the Sanderson Hotel. Here, you'll find Alice in Wonderland themed tea sets, desserts, and warm sandwiches.

There's even a Mad Hatters Tipsy Evening Tea available here!

The hotel itself is not Alice in Wonderland themed but still worth seeing.

Highlights: warm sandwiches, themed desserts
Price: £48 per person; £35 per child (for children 4-11 years old)

2. Afternoon Tea at Mirror Room, Rosewood London

Are you an art fan or just love beautifully decorated desserts? Don't miss afternoon tea at the Mirror Room.

The Rosewood does switch its afternoon tea collection artist themes once in a while. When I visited, the Rosewood featured Banksy, Koons, and Pollock themed desserts, just to name a few:

Highlights: beautiful artsy desserts, good sandwiches
Price: £55 per person

3. The Orangery at Kensington Palace

Stop by The Orangery if you're looking for a traditional, posh afternoon tea experience with high ceilings and beautiful views of Kensington Gardens. This is the no-frills deal.

You can take a stroll around Kensington Gardens after.

Highlights: the experience you think of when you think of afternoon tea
Price: £30 per person; £16 for children's afternoon tea

4. Fortnum & Mason

If you're looking for a place with an extensive selection of teas, head to Fortnum & Mason.

And like most other tea places, you can try as many varieties as you'd like.

You'll find a pianist playing classical music while you dine off a Tiffany's-robin-egg-blue-esque colored 3-tier stand filled with pastries and sandwiches (fancy fancy!). You get an additional piece of dessert as well to eat on the spot or take home, depending on your desires.

Fortnum & Mason Afternoon Tea

It's also a great place to get gifts for other people (but if you forget, they sell Fortnum & Mason tea and biscuits at Heathrow Airport as well).

Afternoon tea is located within Fortnum & Mason's multi-level department store, where you can shop to your content for all things tea related.

Highlights: largest selection of tea
Price: £49 per person

5. Sketch

If Instagram clout is important to you, Sketch is a must visit. This pink tea room with its high vaulted ceiling and matching pink plushy furniture looks like it was plucked right out of a Wes Anderson movie.

Lining the walls are some cheeky sketches by artist David Shrigley, whose work also brings some character to the teapots, teacups, and even the silverware.

And if this isn't the perfect Instagram backdrop...

Then surely, the bathrooms will be up your alley.

The eggs from space!
